About Yali Uganda

The YALI RLC Alumni Chapter of Uganda Limited, abbreviated as YALI Uganda, is a youth-led leadership and mentorship network that pioneers community transformation across the 17 Sustainable Development Goals through its vast alumni base of young experts empowered by the Young African Leaders Initiative programme, which former US President Barack Obama initiated. While in office, President Barack Obama initiated the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) as a signature initiative to support the next generation of African leaders.

YALI Uganda consists of more than 700 alumni that engaged in leadership training across three tracks of study: (1) business and entrepreneurship; (2) civic leadership; and (3) public management in a 4-week residential format with a focus on individual and team leadership skills, innovation, creative learning, and communication at the YALI Regional Leadership Centre East Africa. After they return from the centre, the chapter integrates them to promote collaboration and strategic partnerships. These partnerships aim to transform communities in various sectors, such as sexual reproductive health and rights, climate change action, gender equality, agribusiness and tourism, information, communication, and technology, democracy, and human rights, all in line with the global Sustainable Development Goals. The chapter also provides ongoing support and resources to help members implement their new skills and knowledge in their respective fields. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth, the chapter empowers its members to drive positive change and make a lasting impact in their communities.
